The Benedictine Monastery with the Church of St. Andrew, founded in the 11th century, proudly rises from the cliffs of St. Euphemia Bay on the island of Rab. Established for the daughters of noble Rab families, its founding is historically associated with the year 1123, although without solid evidence.
The earliest record of the monastery comes from an inscription on the bell tower dated 1181, which mentions Abbess Ivana. This simple Romanesque bell tower, the oldest of the four on Rab, stands as a testament to the rich and ancient history of this sacred site.
